Notice top

According to the "Chief Executive Election Ordinance" and "the Chief Executive Election and Legislative Council Election (Miscellaneous Amendments) Bill 2006", Hong Kong Christian Council (HKCC) is enlisted as the designated body to nominate 7 Electors for Christian (Protestant) Sub-sector of Election Committee of HKSAR. HKCC supports the democratization of the political system, and desires universal suffrage for electing the Chief Executive and all the Legislators as soon as possible. Therefore the HKCC decided to adopt the "one Christian, one vote" method to maximize the participation of Christians and to promote democracy among Christians.

The "one Christian, one vote" election will be held on October 29, 2006 (Sunday). Leaders of denominations, churches and Christian organizations have been invited to join the Advisory Board, Steering Committee and Working Group.

All churches in Hong Kong are invited to be polling stations for their congregation members to vote on the voting day. Christians whose affiliated churches are not polling stations could vote at the five public polling stations.

Christian who would like to be a candidate shall submit the application form on or before October 11, 2006. Candidate could be either nominated by denomination/church/church organization/theological seminary or jointly nominated by 20 Christians. The public consultation of candidates will be held on October 22, 2006.
